Apply Now For The Aga Khan Foundation’s International Graduate School Scholarship Program

Program Type: Scholarship Program

Application Deadline: March 31, 2024

About the Program:

The Aga Khan Foundation’s International Scholarship Programme (AKF ISP) offers graduate school scholarships to scholars from select countries who lack other financial support to pursue postgraduate studies. Since its establishment in 1969 by His Highness the Aga Khan, the AKF ISP has provided financial assistance to over a thousand students.

Program Overview:

Recipients of awards are selected through an international, yearly, competitive application process. Each cycle, the AKF ISP grants a limited number of new awards. Applications for the 2024–2025 award cycle will open in early January 2024 and close on March 31, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for an AKF ISP award, applicants must:

  • Possess outstanding academic credentials.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent training or work experience.
  • Demonstrate a sincere need for financial support.
  • Develop a well-thought-out, reliable, multi-source funding plan.
  • Gain admission to a reputable postgraduate school.
  • Exhibit strong leadership potential, work experience, extracurricular and/or entrepreneurial accomplishments, and volunteer work.

Note: Preference is given to young professionals under the age of thirty for this graduate school scholarship.

Award Conditions:

Awards from the AKF ISP are structured as a half grant, half loan, requiring recipients to repay half of the total amount awarded. Master’s degree scholarships cover the full duration of the program. PhD candidates receive this scholarship for the first two years; afterward, they must seek alternative sources of funding.

Additionally, the scholarship covers living expenses and tuition. However, it does not cover living expenses for family members, clothing, furniture, or international travel.

Recipients must maintain good academic standing and demonstrate continuous financial need throughout their postgraduate program to retain their AKF ISP award.
