Google Rebrands Its GenAI Bard To Gemini – Unveils Paid Version

Google has rebranded its generative AI-powered conversational tool Bard as Gemini. Gemini, which is essentially the same product with a new name, now offers a paid version called Gemini Advanced, which will be included in the Google One subscription service for $19.99 per month.

Gemini has been introduced as a new default assistant on Android and has been integrated into the iOS Google App. It will also replace Duet AI and be integrated into various Google products such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet.

The renaming from Bard to Gemini signifies Google’s efforts to streamline its offerings for users and build an ecosystem around Gemini. Despite the name change, users may still hear Gemini refer to itself as Bard until Google updates the model.

Gemini will soon have a standalone app on Android, allowing users to choose between a Gemini-led experience or their current assistant. Additionally, Gemini Advanced offers enhanced capabilities for understanding nuanced instructions and is powered by the Gemini Ultra 1.0 model.

Gemini Advanced will initially be available in English in over 150 countries, with more languages to be added later. Google is also planning to introduce exclusive features for multimodal, coding, and data analysis tasks.

As part of the Google One premium plan, Gemini will soon be integrated into various Google products, offering users a comprehensive and seamless experience across different platforms. Google is offering a free two-month trial for new subscribers to Gemini Advanced, allowing users to experience its capabilities firsthand.
