About the Internship:
The selected candidate will join the ML and Imaging team within the Computational Sciences (CS) department at JAX. They will spend 10-12 weeks working on graph neural network (GNN) interpretability, contributing to ongoing efforts to develop deep learning methods for integrating multi-omics and cross-species data for translational research. Under the supervision of computational scientists, the intern will implement and experiment with GNNs and GNN explanation methods applied to omics data. They will also participate in group meetings and other lab activities.
Desired Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a college or university program
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field
- Experience with programming in Python
- Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning
- Practical experience with ML modeling
- Some research experience at the intersection of ML and biomedicine is a plus
