About the Role

Amazon’s Customer Engagement Technology (CET) team is seeking a skilled Data Engineer (L5) to join their Self-Service Automation division. In this role, the candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing data storage platforms for Large Language Models (LLMs). The ideal candidate thrives in a data-driven environment, possesses expertise in data modeling and ETL design, and is passionate about leveraging data to drive business insights and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain product data pipelines while ensuring compliance with data and privacy standards.
  • Create robust and scalable data and insight platforms using SQL and Spark technologies.
  • Support analytical research efforts and provide strategic recommendations to address business challenges.
  • Continuously improve data quality and operational efficiency through automation and the development of CI/CD data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop and influence the team’s data strategy and storage roadmap.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, IT, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record in data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipeline development.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
  • Strong expertise in SQL and experience with relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS technologies, including Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions.
  • Familiarity with non-relational databases/data stores (e.g., object storage, document stores, key-value stores, graph databases).
  • Master’s degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and EMR.
