Requirements

  • Be in good standing with a faith or belief community represented in the Network for Pastoral, Spiritual & Religious Care in Healthcare (NPSRCH).
  • Relevant training as a faith leader or similar qualification in the NPSRCH tradition.
  • Basic understanding of contemporary healthcare issues and cultural/multi-faith dynamics in hospital settings.
  • Proven experience in ministry, hospital chaplaincy, or a similar pastoral role.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays, and be on-call as needed.

Salary Details In line with the NHS 2024/2025 pay scale, adjustments based on job start date.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll work within a committed, multi-faith chaplaincy team to provide spiritual and pastoral care to a culturally rich community. Guided by empathy and acceptance, you will support patients, families, and staff across a range of backgrounds and beliefs. The role provides a unique opportunity to develop chaplaincy skills within a challenging yet highly rewarding environment, making an impactful difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver pastoral, spiritual, and religious care to patients, families, and staff.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-faith team to serve a diverse hospital community.
  • Support the hospital’s infection control measures, adhering to all relevant policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance chaplaincy skills.
  • Serve on-call shifts, including weekends and bank holidays as needed.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check This position requires an enhanced DBS check as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
