Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject OR QSF in health care associated certificate or equivalent skills, knowledge, and experience, with a commitment to studying towards this qualification within 1 year of starting.
- Experience providing care and undertaking clinical observations.
- Venepuncture skills.
- Immunisation delivery experience.
- Understanding of the Confidentiality and Data Protection Act.
- Working knowledge of IT systems (Microsoft Office, Excel, Welsh Clinical Portal, ESR).
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Hospital experience (desirable).
- Experience with a range of clinical skills, including administering vaccines (desirable).
- Previous experience in a caring role (desirable).
- Welsh speaker (Level 1 – desirable).
- A passion for public health and a desire to make a positive impact on the community.

About the Role
This exciting opportunity within Public Health, as part of the health protection team, offers a unique chance to contribute to community well-being across Hywel Dda Health Board. This role involves offering and promoting vaccinations and screenings in various community settings. Travel across the Health Board area will be necessary to support vaccination and health protection initiatives, including evening and weekend work as needed. Working under the direction of registered nurses, you’ll engage in a variety of patient interventions, from direct nursing care and physical health monitoring to psychosocial interventions within the community and patients’ homes/placements. As a member of the Health Protection and Immunisation Team, you’ll play a vital role in COVID-19 testing, outbreak sampling, and vaccine delivery in diverse locations, including vaccination centers, homes, residential/nursing homes, clinics, hospitals, and pop-up venues.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer vaccines according to training and local/national protocols, procedures, and standards.
- Perform clinical procedures (throat/nasal swabbing for COVID-19, point-of-care testing, dressing renewals, venepuncture, specimen sending, vital signs recording, medication administration).
- Wear appropriate PPE and maintain hand hygiene.
- Undertake clinical and clerical activities as delegated by the registered nurse.
- Address and escalate complications or emergency situations to the registered nurse.
