Job Description

DAI is excited to announce its 2024 Summer Internship Program for rising college juniors and seniors and current graduate students. They are committed to developing a diverse future workforce by providing opportunities for interns to explore career paths in the international development sector. The internship program will provide opportunities to gain experience and insight into areas of project management, communications, operations, leadership, business development and/or technical skills development. Interns will be assigned to work with a portfolio team within DAI’s U.S. Government business unit. The U.S. Government business primarily works with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Skills and Qualifications

  • Rising junior or senior or graduate student with good academic standing (minimum of 3.0 GPA).
  • Demonstrated interest in international development.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to follow standard practices and procedures and receive general instruction and supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative, respectful relationships with colleagues and external clients at all levels and from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • U.S. work authorization.
  • Professional working proficiency in a second language (Spanish, French, Russian, or Arabic preferred).

Duration and Location This is a full-time, 10-week paid internship program. Interns will work from DAI’s Bethesda, Maryland headquarters on a hybrid basis, with 2-3 days per week in the office from June 3 – August 9.

Compensation All internships at DAI are paid an hourly rate based on the individual’s current level of education. Undergraduate students will earn $22 per hour. Graduate students will earn $24 per hour. Additionally, interns may be eligible to accrue sick leave based on their hours worked in accordance with local law; and may be eligible to participate in DAI’s 401(k) retirement plan, with a company match.
