Position: Nuuly Data Scientist Intern
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Overview:
Nuuly’s Data Science team plays a pivotal role in developing, deploying, and maintaining Machine Learning systems to support URBN brands, including Nuuly. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a team of experts across various domains such as project management, machine learning, software engineering, and data analytics. Under the guidance of the Sr. Manager, Data Science, interns will contribute to projects spanning from ideation to production deployment, with a focus on enhancing business operations and customer experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and data engineers to design, build, and evaluate machine learning models and systems.
- Engage in ML modeling activities, including statistical analysis, model development, and performance evaluation, with a focus on business impact and time-to-production.
- Support ML deployment efforts by assisting in the containerization of algorithms, building data pipelines, and monitoring deployed ML systems.
- Conduct analysis to identify opportunities for business improvement through the application of statistical and ML techniques, and communicate findings to stakeholders effectively.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Familiarity with ML tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn, as well as Jupyter Notebooks.
- Understanding of fundamental Machine Learning concepts, including train/validation/test sets, overfitting, scoring metrics, and neural network applications.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment, with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Opportunities for Learning:
- Gain practical experience using ML approaches on real-world applications.
- Acquire knowledge in containerization (Docker), cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform), and cloud infrastructure.
- Participate in performance evaluation of customer-facing applications and ML models.

Education:
A degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent job experience.
