Requirements:

About the Role:
As a Clinical Coder (or Trainee Clinical Coder), you’ll play an important role in ensuring the accuracy of hospital activity data. Based at Glan Clwyd Hospital, you’ll be extracting medical terms from patient records and translating them into clinical codes. Qualified coders will use their expertise to code across a variety of specialties, while trainees will receive a comprehensive training package, including a coding foundation course and mentorship, to achieve NCCQ status and progress to a Band 4. Key Responsibilities:
- Extract medical terms from clinical documentation.
- Translate medical terms into clinical codes for hospital activity data.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical coding standards.
- Participate in internal and external training courses.
- (For Qualified Coders): Code across a range of medical specialties.
- (For Trainees): Complete the comprehensive training package and achieve NCCQ certification.
