In today’s flexible work environment, we often find ourselves switching between devices to get the job done. Google Meet has taken note of this and is introducing a new feature called “Switch here” that allows users to transfer calls seamlessly between devices without interrupting the conversation.
Imagine starting a call on your phone while on the go and then switching to your computer when you arrive at your desk. With “Switch here,” you can do just that. When you open the Meet page or preview on your computer, you’ll see a “Switch here” option that allows you to transfer the call from your mobile device to your computer without hanging up or rejoining.
The feature works both ways, so you can also transfer a call from your computer to your mobile device if needed. Additionally, you can choose to keep the meeting active on both devices by selecting “Join here too” under “Other joining options.”
This feature is rolling out to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts over the coming weeks. It’s supported on Google Meet for Android, iOS, and the website, making it easy to switch between devices and stay connected.
Google Meet has been continuously improving its features to make remote communication more seamless and efficient. This new feature is a welcome addition to the platform, and we can expect to see more innovative features in the future.
In other Google Meet news, the platform has also introduced interactive “Companion Mode” for Android and iOS, redesigned its effects UI with combined backgrounds and filters, and more. As remote work continues to evolve, Google Meet is positioning itself as a leading platform for seamless communication and collaboration.
