Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant healthcare field.
  • Demonstrable experience in community or palliative care.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
  • Understanding of the principles of the Data Protection Act, Health and Safety, Equality, and Diversity
  • Strong Communication and Clinical intervention Skills

About the Role:

As a Healthcare Assistant with the Hospice at Home team, you’ll provide crucial support to palliative care patients and their families in the comfort of their own homes across South Sefton. You’ll work closely with other healthcare professionals, delivering personalized care and ensuring the best possible quality of life for patients nearing the end of their lives. This is far more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Your input will be crucial in providing well-rounded care to patients and families.
  • Delivering care and support within the patient’s home, allowing them to remain in their preferred environment.
  • Providing respite care for families, offering them much-needed breaks from their caregiving roles. Your presence will provide comfort and support to both patients and their loved ones.
  • Carrying out patient interventions within the scope of your NVQ Level 3 skills, ensuring patient comfort and well-being.
  • Working independently as a lone worker, demonstrating your ability to manage your workload and provide consistent care.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless care coordination.
  • Providing occasional support and cover at the specialist palliative care inpatient unit based at Woodlands Hospice.
