Requirements:

Minster Ward is seeking either experienced Healthcare Assistants or enthusiastic individuals wanting to train for this fulfilling role. A Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent is preferred, but if you don’t have it yet, they’ll support you to achieve it. If you are caring, compassionate, and eager to make a positive impact, they want to hear from you.

  • Ideally, you’ll have a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent. (If not, they’ll help you get there).
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent) are also preferred.
  • You’ll need to complete their Healthcare Assistant competencies within 6 months. (If you’re a trainee, you’ll have up to 2 years).
  • A Care Certificate is preferred for experienced applicants. Trainees will earn theirs during training.
  • Experience as a Band 2/3 HCA (or similar) in a care setting is beneficial.
  • Experience working with people with mental health needs or learning disabilities would be fantastic, but it’s not essential.

Salary Details:

£24,071 to £25,674 a year per annum

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team on Minster Ward, an 18-bed male acute ward at Foss Park Hospital. As a Healthcare Assistant, you’ll work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide support and care to men experiencing mental ill health. You will assist in delivering patient care, undertaking duties as directed, and actively promoting a positive recovery journey. This is a chance to contribute to a compassionate and supportive environment, developing your skills and making a real difference in the lives of their patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Improve the lives of male patients experiencing mental ill health.
  • Provide compassionate care to patients and their carers.
  • Assist in delivering patient care under the direction of the nurse in charge.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Promote a positive image of people with mental ill health.
