Job Description

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting a research summer intern to work in the Real-World Value & Evidence (RWV&E) team. The RWV&E team comprises Market Access Scientific strategists (MAx) with the mission to deliver real-world evidence to various U.S. healthcare stakeholders, including patients, providers, and payers. The intern will support the hematology therapeutic area at the Horsham, PA office.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Conceptualizing research studies, preparing and/or executing study protocols and statistical analysis plans
  • Conducting literature reviews or meta-analysis
  • Collaborating with data scientists to gain familiarity with statistics, epidemiology, and advanced analytical tools by utilizing various large databases
  • Developing competency in the analysis and interpretation of real-world data
  • Enhancing scientific writing skills
  • Disseminating real-world evidence internally to gain alignment across cross-functional teams

Skills and Qualifications

Basic:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/institution pursuing a graduate degree (Master’s, PhD, or PharmD) in pharmacy, health services research, health economics, biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, or related fields
  • Completed at least 1 year of graduate work prior to starting the internship
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without limitations or sponsorship
  • Available for at least 10 weeks over the 2024 summer

Preferred:

  • Prior research experience in conducting observational, retrospective studies, literature reviews
  • Relevant advanced coursework in areas such as health economics, epidemiology, psychometrics, research methods, survival data analysis, parametric/non-parametric statistical methods
  • Skilled at programming in SQL and statistical packages like SAS, R, Stata
  • Strong academic performance, with a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong interest in health economics, pharmacoeconomics, outcomes research, real-world evidence, and the pharmaceutical industry
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Duration and Location

  • Duration: At least 10 weeks over the 2024 summer
  • Location: Horsham, Pennsylvania, United States
  • Expected hours: Approximately 8 hours of work per day (a 40-hour work week), with at least 3 days per week in-person at the Horsham, PA office.

Compensation
This is a paid summer internship program.
